MOM LOVE Gin offers Royal Sweetness

With its funky bottle and eye-catching logo MOM LOVE Gin sets out to grab your attention.  “Look at me!” it challenges you. “I’m the Queen of Gins”.  It’s pink and proud.  But does it punch as high as it preens?

British gin production (and consumption) is booming in the UK.  Recent government figures show that between 2017 and 2020 gin sales grew by 68% and in 2020 the number of distilleries rose by 20%.  It’s becoming a crowded market and a new kid needs a good pedigree and a good brand to get noticed.

MOM LOVE is produced and bottled in the UK within the family of González Byass winery, producers of Tio Pepe sherry and one of the most famous bodegas in Spain.  Visit its website and you’ll see MOM Gin being enjoyed in exotic locations by people having fun.  But this gin is not an alco-pop.  The producers know their business and MOM LOVE is a grown-up, serious gin.   A 37.5% abv premium gin with a smooth finish, it’s crafted with exotic botanicals and strawberries infused during four distillations in copper stills.

If you’ve discovered the joy of gin during the last year you may have experimented with various flavoured gins, perhaps with various success too.  MOM LOVE Gin gets its colour and sweeter flavour from the infusion of the strawberries; the flavour is surprisingly delicate, not at all overwhelming, not over-sweet.  Mixed with a light tonic (I used Fever Tree) it makes a terrifically refreshing G&T. 

Method:

1. Fill a glass with ice cubes and stir gently to cool the glass – drain off the excess water.
2. Add 50ml of MOM LOVE
3. Gently add 200ml of light tonic water
4. Add strawberries or other red berries for added flavour
5. Stir and enjoy!

For a special occasion try a champagne-style cocktail adding 30ml of MOM LOVE to a champagne flute and topping with a medium-dry or slightly sweet cava or prosecco.  A great way to add a bit of fun to a cream tea!

I would agree with its claim: MOM LOVE is a Queen amongst flavoured gins and with its attractive colour makes for a perfect alternative to fizz for a celebratory drink.  As a Mom myself, I’m looking forward to gathering my family and friends around me before too long to raise a glass.  In fact, it would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift.  As it says on the bottle “God Save the Gin”!
