Living La Dolce Vita in Knightsbridge, Harvey Nichols Terrace

We are all desperate to get away and enjoy the sun, but in the meantime, the next best thing is to hightail down to Harvey Nichols where Malfy Gin just launched their Lemon Grove Terrace on the fifth floor Knightsbridge terrace. It’s running from 12th April until 27th June with the terrace providing a Mediterranean escape with fabulous cocktails and an exclusive Italian inspired Spring Menu. If you don’t know about Malfy Gin, it’s a premium gin from Italy, made in Turin but channelling the spirit of the gorgeous Amalfi coast.

Harvey Nichols Malfy Gin TerraceIt was such a relief to be back out and about post-lockdown in a lively, buzzing atmosphere with staff and customers equally happy. The terrace has been gorgeously styled with lemon and flower-bedecked railings along with some hardy olive trees. With outdoor heating, awnings, and blankets provided, there was no excuse for being cold as the night drew in.

Sitting in the padded garden chairs we feasted on meaty Nocellara olives and moreish salted smoked almonds whilst we checked out the menu and sipped on our cocktails.

Olives & nuts

The Sgroppino was a luscious mix of Malfy Limone gin and lemon juice poured over a raspberry sorbet with a touch of fizz from a dash of the house HN Prosecco. It was the perfect summertime drink and could even double as a decadent dessert!

The Amalfi Settantacinque was less sweet but no less delicious blending Malfy Limone gin, lemon juice, Perrier-Jouët NV Champagne and clementine juice. Fresh and elegant it had a light citrus twist and came elegantly adorned with star anise; it will be loved by ladies who lunch.

And then the starters arrived. A silky mushroom and black truffle raviolo served with crisp green asparagus, shimeji, and walnut dressing was a beautifully plated spring dish with a luxurious filling.

Beetroot cured trout, baby cucumber, pomegranate, and keta caviar came with fragrant lemongrass and elderflower vinaigrette. Melt in the mouth strips of trout were dressed with the crunchy baby cucumber and topped with the salt/sour/sweet pomegranate and caviar.

There’s never a bad time to have more cocktails. The Frutta Candita had a ginger beer base enlivened by a slug of Malfy Rosa gin and sweetened by apricot liqueur.

But if you want something smoother with a bit of excitement you should go for the Arancia E Miele Sour that combines the kick of Malfy Arancia gin, the sweetness of blood orange, lemon, honey, and egg white in a seductive blend.

Potato gnocchi with a medley of shellfish

There are some dishes you will never make at home. It was such a relief to be able to eat my delicious main of potato gnocchi with a medley of shellfish and lovely saffron foam. Civilization has triumphed, great restaurant dishes are back!

More straightforward but with its own twist was the oat-crusted fish burger. Made with salt cod and slathered with tzatziki, jalapeno, gem lettuce it was a refined and healthy alternative to a meat burger. I’m not sure how healthy the crispy sweet potato fries and onion rings were…but they were very moreish.

A side of Broccoli was dressed with a sultry tahini and soy mayonnaise.

Lemon and rhubarb posset

Lemon and rhubarb posset was soft and creamy with a hint of crunch from the rhubarb. The poppy seed biscuit on the side was surprisingly delicious!

Now that they are open it’s clearly our duty to go out, enjoy ourselves, and support our fabulous restaurants. What could be nicer than a trip to Harvey Nicks, the chance to eat some great food and explore these wonderful Malfy cocktails?

On Thursday and Fridays, between 17:00 and 18:00 they even have the MALFY APERITIVO HOUR. You get a charcuterie board, with your choice of two Malfy Gin perfect serves for only £25.25

You can book the Malfy Lemon Grove Terrace here.

If you haven’t got the chance to visit, then here’s a delicious gin, lemon and prosecco cocktail to make with Malfy gin at home.

If you are looking for more outdoor dining opportunities, we can also recommend Oxo Tower Brasserie terrace, with a great menu and delicious cocktails, run by the same team as the Fifth Floor Terrace at Harvey Nichols.  Although our review dates from when you could dine indoors, we’ve been to the terrace there recently and can confirm there’s absolutely no dilution of the food being produced from their kitchens!
