The Bentley Hotel, London – Luxurious Cocoa Spa Treatments

One of my favourite indulgences is chocolate and I love a spa treatment so offered the chance to visit Le Kalon Spa at the Bentley Hotel, South Kensington for luxury cocoa spa treatments I was more than happy to accept and combine the two. The spa was running cocoa spa treatments, as well as a chocolate-themed afternoon tea, for National Chocolate Week. Having to choose whether to have either the tea or the spa treatments I opted for the latter as time wouldn’t allow for me to fit in both on this occasion.

I travelled to London by train, from my home in Surrey, and made my way to The Bentley, a five-star hotel in Kensington and Chelsea, situated a short distance from Gloucester Road underground station. I was greeted by the reception team and given directions to the lift to whisk me away to Le Kalon Spa.Entrance lobby The Bentley Hotel London

On emerging into the cavernous lower ground floor spa, my therapist, Melissa, showed me the changing room which has lockers, a shower, a toilet and a sauna. The marble therapy space has a warm and cosy feel to it, with subdued lighting including candles and is very peaceful as it seems far away from the main hotel just above. It made me feel cocooned in warmth.

The first treatment was a body scrub, ideal for jaded skin as winter sets in. I’m not that good at remembering to exfoliate in everyday life as I am always busy and have been travelling around the country recently when all my beauty routines go out of the window. A vigorous scrub was just what I needed and as the treatment progressed the cocoa aroma became very apparent. It smelt like a chocolate cake that had just been taken out of an oven, divine!

With my skin tingling all over it was time to wash off the scrub with a shower. a fresh towel was provided to dry myself, I could already feel a noticeable difference – my skin felt soft and smooth.

I returned to the therapy room this time for the massage, again with cocoa essence in the massage oil. I do carry any tension in my shoulders and back so I asked for Melissa to concentrate on these areas, which she did with a medium pressure massage. There’s nothing like a good massage to relax and unwind, and although I had some very knotty areas which needed more attention, it was over all too soon. It was time to slowly gather myself together and get dressed again. I could have happily stayed longer!

There’s a small area within the spa where you can relax after a treatment, an excellent idea as it’s not beneficial to immediately rush off after a treatment. An added bonus was a tray on which were laid two warm chocolate brownies and a pot of tiramisu tea.  These just made the perfect ending to my treatments; the brownies were moist and the tea was fragrant and refreshing.

If like me, you love a luxury spa treatment I would definitely recommend Le Kalon Spa at The Bentley Hotel. It’s an oasis of calm and relaxation in the bustle of central London.

My experience was a thirty-minute cocoa body scrub and a forty-five minute cocoa essence massage. These treatments are running until 31 October 2018. Le Kalon Spa offers themed spa treatments throughout the year.

A massage and chocolate, it sounds heavenly. What a beautiful hotel to visit too.
