Festive Afternoon Tea at Lanes of London:

My festive season kicked off to a perfect start in with an elegant afternoon tea just a stones-throw away from the hubbub of London’s Oxford Street. In the sumptuous, relaxing surroundings of Mayfair’s Lanes of London Hotel, a glamorous Grade II listed building, just off Park Lane.  There,  my friend and I were treated to a glorious tea especially designed for the Christmas season, seated in fabulous bar and dining room where we were provided with personal and attentive service.

Initially, we were educated into the world of refined teas, I chose a Flowering Osmanthus, a light and soothing green tea, my friend had the Nilgiri Frost, which she described as akin to an afternoon cigar, I’m not sure I would have enjoyed that!

The teas beautifully complimented the array of savoury sandwich delights including Beetroot Toast Bread with salmon and cream cheese, and a twist to the traditional cucumber sandwich which was served on Basil Toast Bread with salted butter and mint.

For our second specialist tea we both chose the Whole Rose Buds, recommended to complement the festive sweet treats, which included delicious scones, plum jam and cream, mouth-watering Stollen, ‘Milk Chocolate and Clementine Christmas Present’, Chestnut Mont Blanc and the cutest Snow Men cupcakes, all washed down with copious amounts of prosecco.

What better way to remedy the highs and lows of a day spent Christmas shopping and ease into the festive season, and with Winter Wonderland just across the road, you could make more than a day of it!
