Body Building Range from Philip Kingsley and new Repair Daily Nourishing Cream from Grow Gorgeous.
Having fine hair can be both a blessing and a challenge. While it’s often easy to style and manage, fine hair is also prone to breakage, making it challenging to achieve the voluminous and healthy-looking locks that many desire. I have very fine hair which has got progressively thinner over the years and with the added stress of colouring I have also experienced some breakage.
However, with the right techniques and hair care routine, there are ways to effectively manage fine hair and minimise breakage. Below are some tips I’ve picked up along the way. Plus, I have been trying out some new products which I can highly recommend.

Gentle handling:
Fine hair is delicate and requires gentle handling to prevent breakage. It’s best to avoid rough towel drying, combing or brushing aggressively, and using excessive heat styling tools. Pat your hair dry with a soft towel and detangle it with a wide-toothed comb or a brush specifically designed for fine hair.
Regular Trimming:
Regular hair trims are essential for managing fine hair and preventing split ends. Aim to visit your hairstylist every 6-8 weeks to remove damaged ends and keep your hair looking healthy. Trimming helps maintain the overall appearance of your hair and prevents breakage from travelling up the hair shaft. Avoid Overwashing: Fine hair tends to get oily quickly, leading many people to overwash it, something I am guilty of. However, excessive washing can strip the hair of its natural oils, causing it to become dry and brittle. Ideally aim to wash your hair every other day or every two days, depending on your hair’s oiliness, dry shampoos can help you manage the days in between washes or use a texturizing spray to refresh your hair and add volume.
Heat Styling Precautions:
Heat styling tools can be damaging to any hair type, but it’s especially important to take precautions when using them on fine hair. Always use a heat protectant spray before blow-drying, straightening, or curling your hair to minimize damage. Set your styling tools to a lower heat setting and limit the frequency of heat styling to reduce the risk of breakage. Diet and
Lifestyle:
Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle can significantly impact the health of your hair. Ensure you’re consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins to promote hair strength and growth. There are a variety of vitamins on the market which target healthy hair. It’s important to stay hydrated and manage stress levels, as these factors can also affect the health of your hair.

Choosing the Right Hair Care Products:
Using the right hair care products specifically formulated for fine hair can make a significant difference in managing its health and preventing breakage. Look for lightweight shampoos and conditioners that add volume without weighing the hair down. Avoid heavy, oil-based products that can make your hair appear greasy and prone to breakage. Fine hair still requires proper hydration and conditioning. Use a lightweight, volumising conditioner and apply it mainly to the ends of your hair, avoiding the roots. Over-conditioning the roots can weigh down your hair and make it appear flat. Additionally, use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to provide extra moisture and nourishment to your fine hair.
