Location, Location, Location!

When I was a child, my parents would take me to Trafalgar Square to feed the pigeons. We’d buy little cups of seeds from vendors, and watch them flock around, sometimes the birds would perch on people’s arms or heads (though to be honest, I wasn’t keen on that part!) Nevertheless, the experience remains a fond memory. The pigeons are long gone now, but the square remains a focal point of the city, with pride of place given to Nelson’s Column and the National Gallery. I never imagined I would have the opportunity to spend a night by the square, with a fantastic view of all the comings and goings. But that’s exactly what Page8 Hotel offers.

The National Gallery

If you’re looking for a sightseeing city break in central London, it’s hard to beat Page8’s Trafalgar Square location. This 5-star cornerstone hotel on St Martin’s Place, once an office block that housed the Post Office and Redwood Publishing, sits directly opposite the entrance to the National Portrait Gallery. Its original outpost is in Hong Kong, with a concept that offers a stylish yet affordable stay for urban explorers.

This London location is perfect for anyone wanting to dive into the vibrant city scene. Whether you want to explore iconic London landmarks, and stunning galleries or enjoy a diverse range of theatre shows, bars, clubs, cafés, and pubs, or shop till you drop, this is the place to be. Leicester Square and Charing Cross tube and rail stations are less than a three-minute walk in either direction, and plenty of bus stops are nearby.

St Martin-in-the-Fields

The hotel has 138 rooms which range from Standard Twins and Doubles to Superior Doubles, Deluxe Doubles, Junior Suites and Family Rooms, so there is something for everyone. After a seamless check-in, we made our way to our smartly designed room on the first floor. Its corner position offered magnificent views, overlooking the square and up St Martin’s Place.

Classic furnishings and clean lines with brass fittings gave it an upmarket feel, with bright white painted walls complemented by electronic blackout blinds and a graphic zigzag print carpet adding a modern touch. Nice additions like a retro phone and a Marshall speaker with a Page Hotels playlist added a stylish edge. The room was well-equipped with a desk, wardrobe, TV, safe, minibar, coffee and tea-making facilities, bathrobes, slippers, and a hairdryer. Plus, there’s a sleek, marble-clad shower room stocked with luxurious bath products and handy travel accessories.

Comfort is a priority, a sumptuous bed with a blue headboard was dressed in crisp white linens. We especially loved lounging on the perfectly placed royal blue upholstered window seats, watching the world go by.

On the ground floor, you’ll find Page Common Coffee House, which doubles as the lobby, with friendly and helpful staff at the helm.

The décor in the coffee bar features a sleek, industrial design with shelves stacked with curated guidebooks. Here, you can enjoy breakfast or all-day drinks and snacks, either tucked away from the hustle and bustle inside or at outside tables with a proper street-side view. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of high-quality coffee, freshly baked pastries, yoghurt with granola, and avocado on toast before heading out to explore the town.

Even as a Londoner, waking up to the city’s heartbeat with all the action right outside my window felt like a real treat. If you want to stay in the heart of it all, Page8 is undoubtedly the place to be.
