Teal Restaurant, Hackney
Little Chef Sally finds her home in Hackney, a charming little British Bistro There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing someone like Sally Abé come into her own in a setting like Teal that seems ‘just so’. We’ve known her work since she took over as head chef at The Harwood Arms. At the […]
Simpson’s In The Strand – Restaurant of the Month
Simpson’s – The Renaissance of a London Classic by Jeremy King It’s with great excitement that Simpson’s has reopened on the Strand. This renowned establishment has earned itself a place in British history. Opened in 1828 by Samuel Reiss as the Grand Cigar Divan, it was originally a coffee house and smoking room. London gentlemen […]
Tiella – Bethnal Green – Restaurant of the Month
A contemporary take on the trattoria Mining Italy’s rich regional food culture and her own family history in the trattoria trade, Dara Klein has recently opened her own restaurant on Bethnal Green’s Columbia Road. Klein’s CV contains stints at restaurants across London, including Brawn, Trullo and Sager & Wilde. More recently, her two-year residency at […]
The Azuki Room – Restaurant of the Month
Japanese Restaurant and Sake Bar in Holborn – The Azuki Room Each month, the team at London Unattached chooses a newly opened restaurant to feature as our Restaurant of the Month. 74 Charlotte Street by Ben Murphy
Tucked in the heart of Fitzrovia, just moments from Goodge Street and Tottenham Court Road, 74 Charlotte Street has the kind of quiet confidence that draws you in before you’ve even crossed the threshold. There’s a reason we’ve chosen it as our restaurant of the month: this is Ben Murphy’s first solo venture since his celebrated stint at Launceston Place. The attention to detail is evident the moment you step inside.
Restaurant of the Month – Legado
Nieves has just added Legado to her portfolio in the edgier environs of Shoreditch. The restaurant’s mission is ‘to celebrate the diverse regional food cultures of Spain and its islands, allowing the lesser-known to take centre stage’. In addition to the restaurant, there is a tapas and pintxos bar, ‘The Taberna’, which deserves a separate visit.
Barbarella – Canary Wharf – Restaurant of the Month
Parisian restaurant group Big Mamma has opened another of its enjoyably OTT Italian trattorias, this time in Canary Wharf. It’s hard to believe that Gloria – the group’s first venture into the London scene – only opened in 2019. Since then, others have followed, each with its own signature look and ever-more instagrammable dishes.
Barbarella is the latest addition to the Big Mamma stable, and it’s London Unattached’s Restaurant of the Month for July.
