Bottomless brunch and Party Time in Greenwich

3.5 out of 5.0 stars

The Dial – Home of Meantime is a sports bar, microbrewery and restaurant conveniently situated on Greenwich Peninsula. Now it’s teamed up with London Brunch Events to offer a Saturday Brunch, Party and DJ footsteps away from the O2 and North Greenwich underground station. Lured by the thought of bottomless cocktails, I went along with three friends to try it out.

Dial Bottomless Brunch Greenwich rooftop

The Dial is a large circular venue set across three floors, with lots of outside terrace space on the ground and top floors. The standout spot is the 360° rooftop bar with its sweeping views over the skyline.

Dial Bottomless Brunch Greenwich drinks

We arrived with the intention of being reasonably sensible. It wasn’t long before the table had been covered in drinks by our friendly and enthusiastic waitress. The cocktails come in carafes, and there’s a choice of Passion Fruit Martinis, Cosmopolitans and Margaritas. Winner for me was the Margarita, pleasantly refreshing on a very hot day. One of my party spent the brunch happily working her way through pints of the Meantime Dial Lager while another added a glass of Prosecco into the mix. Wine is also available alongside soft drinks and 0% Peroni for non-drinkers and those who need a pause from the alcohol infusion.

The Brunch menu falls on the pub-grub spectrum and is the kind of food that has the power to soak up alcohol. Two courses per guest are included in the price of the Brunch offer (£59.99 per person plus service).

For variety’s sake, we opted to share four of the starters. Luckily, it wasn’t me that got the “hot one” from the plate of Charred Padron Peppers with smoked salt and lime, a welcome dose of greenery on the table. The Grilled Halloumi Fries came with a good tomato chutney and were spongy and moreish. The onion rings managed to be crunchy on the outside and melting on the inside and were served with an unusual (but good) citrus dip. Top prize among the starters went to the Calamari, lots of crispy, juicy squid, well balanced with Japanese mayo.

Dial Bottomless Brunch Greenwich burger

There are six options on the main course menu, three of them burgers. Two of us had the Fried Chicken Burger, a buttermilk-brined chicken thigh, with Japanese mayo, lettuce and pickles in a potato bun. There was another taker for the Dial Burger: aged Wagyu beef patty, American cheese and house burger sauce, again with pickles and in a potato bun. There was a choice of chips or salad, but we did not see any evidence of enthusiasm for the latter. Non-meat-eating diners are catered for with a vegan burger.

The Dial Bottomless Brunch Greenwich beetroot salad

The most well-behaved member of our party shamed the burger eaters by ordering the Beetroot and Goat’s Cheese Salad. This was a pleasing mix of juicy, honey-roasted beetroot and tart goat’s cheese, accompanied by candied walnuts, mint, mixed leaves, and lemon dressing.

We dined on The Dial’s breezy ground-floor terrace, but most of our fellow brunchers ate in the more raucous first-floor restaurant in the company of the resident DJ.

The Dial Bottomless Brunch Greenwich bar

Brunch at The Dial starts promptly at midday, and the bottomless drinks flow until 1.30 pm. But that’s not where the fun stops. A conga line of brunchers (almost exclusively female) swelled up to the rooftop bar where the DJ once again set up shop and the after-party began. The rooftop is a fabulous spot on a sunny day, with far-reaching views over the top of the O2 arena and onto Canary Wharf. The Brunch experience at The Dial is designed to be a celebratory, light-hearted experience.
