Hair of the Dog Big Breakfast Cocktail from Stoli® Vodka:

Stoli® Vodka has come up with some new ways to enjoy cocktails using readily available items in your kitchen and fridge. They are called the Stoli® Cupboard Cocktails (and that’s a bloke’s cupboard) so you don’t need to have anything wild and bizarre to create great drinks.

One of my faves is the Stoli® Big Breakfast, or as I would call it a Stoli® Hair of the Dog. Now cocktails for me in the morning is almost a step too far, but it comes with toast which makes it all right. It is also served in a jam jar, which saves on washing up delicate glasses and adds that sense of understated style to your drink – or, lets you believe for one minute you are a mixologist in Shoreditch...

Watch Stoli brand ambassador Matt Dakers in a  short two-minute video of how to make the perfect Stoli® Big Breakfast cocktail. It will give you ideas on how to be creative with what you have on hand.

The Stoli® Premium vodka has a great taste, spicy and warming with a real aroma which works great with the fruit juices to build a great cocktail base. Now, what had I planned for the rest of the day?

Course: Beverage
Cuisine: British
Servings: 1

Ingredients
  • 2 Egg Cups Stoli Premium Vodka
  • 2 Egg Cups Grapefruit Juice or use a whole Grapefruit
  • 1 Egg Cups Orange Juice
  • Half Egg Cups Maple Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sauce HP, obviously!
  • 1 tablespoon Tomato Ketchup Heinz, obviously!
  • 1 pinch Salt and Pepper
  • 1 medium slice Toast
Instructions
  1. Cut a slice of bread and pop in the toaster. You can consider this your timer!

  2. Add tomato ketchup, brown sauce and maple syrup into a jam jar
    Stoli Maple Syrup
  3. Add the grapefruit juice into the jam jar along with a dash of salt and pepper and orange juice. A freshly squeezed grapefruit is better, but what single bloke keeps fresh fruit in the fridge?

  4. Pour 2 egg cups of Stoli Premium into the mix and top with ice. Don’t add too much ice if you add any at all.
  5. Seal the jar with a lid and shake well.
    Stoli Shaking
  6. The toast should be ready by now. Cover generously with marmalade and cut into soldiers. Use a soldier or two to garnish.

  7. Enjoy.
Recipe Notes

An Egg Cup may seem very small, but they hold a lot, and 5 egg cups of liquid will usually fill a small jam jar.

I had to scroll back and look at the date of this post – I was sire it would be April 1st, not 4th. Vodka for breakfast is a thought to churn my stomach – but a combination that includes grapefruit juice and brown sauce? YEUCH! It reminds me of my attempt at a non alcoholic cocktail that included tomato juice and tonic water and turned out to be one of the most repellent things I have ever tasted.

I bet this is excellent. The first cocktails were made to be drunk in the morning..which is one reason they were so scandalous !!
