Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Lyttelton Theatre

April 2, 2026 (2026-04-02T08:22:13+01:00) by Editor Leave a Comment

Wicked little letters Guest Post by Natalie York The National Theatre’s much-anticipated production of Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses coincides with the playwright’s 80th birthday and just over 60 years of writing for the stage. Hampton’s adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s 1782 epistolatory classic retains the original’s outrage at a calcified and predatory aristocracy […]

Circus afternoon tea - Vintry & Mercer

The Vintry & Mercer Circus afternoon tea is a high-quality, thoughtful and delicious tea, and I really enjoyed sharing it with my son. It was a lovely, colourful treat on a wintry day. The service was excellent, and the place was relaxed. After we finished, I went up to the hotel’s beautiful roof terrace, where they serve the Crown Afternoon Tea, to take in the view of London rooftops and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Crystal Pite’s Light of Passage at the Royal Ballet

Light of Passage is a short piece, Flight Pattern is only 30 minutes long with Covenant and Passage being 10 and 20 minutes long respectively. As a whole, however, it delivers a considerable emotional punch. Jay Gower Taylor’s set, Tom Visser’s lighting, Gorecki’s music, and of course the brilliant dancers of the Royal Ballet, create the haunting atmosphere of this profoundly moving work. This is not to be missed. – get a ticket if you can.

Zapote: contemporary and authentic Mexican restaurant

Zapote Octopus

Celebrating one year of Zapote  Last week, I dined at Zapote, an authentic Mexican restaurant in Shoreditch, and sampled their celebratory first birthday menu. The menu marks one year since the restaurant opened; founded by Chef Yahir Gonzalez and his co-founder Tony Geary. This was admittedly my first truly authentic Mexican culinary experience. There is […]

South Place Valentine's bed close up

Naughty or Nice? It’s that time of year. The annual ritual of the last-minute panic to buy your loved one/s a card, flowers and chocolates and then book a restaurant is upon us. And maybe you’ve bought them the same card as last year…?  But what if you could do something different? A grand romantic […]

Comfort, style and great food at Eve Restaurant  Last weekend I attended the opening of EVE’s new Saturday Brunch menu devised by Head Chef Talia Prince. EVE is located within the Ember Locke ‘aparthotel’ building in Kensington, on the ground floor to the right of the main entrance. Immediately, the décor of the restaurant was […]

Rudy's Pizza - Winter Special Pizza

In Search of the Perfect Pizza I have been on something of a pizza odyssey recently. Following David Portnoy’s stellar 8.1 score, I joined the summer crowds and queued for forty minutes at Hammersmith’s Crisp W6. Following the trail of rave reviews, I then journeyed to Chiswick’s Napoli on the Road. Both were fantastic, setting […]
