Excellent Italian food and a warm welcome at Mucci’s modern Italian restaurant

4.0 out of 5.0 stars

Mucci’s restaurant is located on Chelsea’s iconic King’s Road, a short walk from Fulham Broadway underground station. This modern Italian restaurant offers excellent traditional Italian fare in a warm, vibrant atmosphere.

Exterior Mucci's

As you approach Mucci’s, it stands out from the surrounding shops and offices, inviting you to enter. A bright blue painted exterior has a red carpet leading up the stairs to the entrance. An open-air terrace surrounds the restaurant, which is in a corner location. The terrace would be an ideal place to relax and enjoy good food and company on a sunny day.

Interior Mucci's restaurant

The interior is cosy and welcoming. The pizza oven is at the front of the restaurant, and all pizzas are made with the best-quality fermented sourdough bases. A large bar spans one wall, with a row of barstools on the opposite wall for those who wish to stop by for a beverage. Green foliage is dotted around the restaurant. Mucci’s is small enough that you can dine without it being overly noisy.

On the evening of our visit, it was a dull day, so we were seated inside. Our waiter, Vito, greeted us warmly and showed us to our table. What better way to start a meal than with a cocktail? There is a good choice of reasonably priced cocktails on the drinks list.

Cocktails Mucci's

My daughter chose the classic Aperol spritz, a cocktail made with Aperol, prosecco, and an orange garnish. For me, another classic: a Hugo spritz made with St. Germain elderflower liqueur and fresh mint. Presented with a tiny umbrella, they were refreshing and just right after our journey into London.

Mucci’s food menu includes all the Italian classics you would expect, from starters to pasta and main pizza options, as well as a short section of meat and fish dishes. The cost is simplified to 10/20, a clever idea, with all starters priced at £10.00, the mains at £20.00. For a restaurant in Chelsea, this is excellent value.

To start, we chose zucchini fritti, julienne style. A basket of thin, crispy courgettes, which were very moreish.

To follow bresaola Angus, cured beef from Valtellina, with fresh focaccia. The beef was soft and tender; it was a tasty starter course. The portion was larger than we anticipated, and we needed to save room for our main courses, so we opted to leave some. Vito packaged the rest in a take-away box for us to enjoy at home.

The extensive wine list, with an Italian prominence, has wine for every budget. There is a good choice of wines available by the glass, ideal if you do not want to purchase a whole bottle.

We decided on a bottle of medium-priced Gavi di Gavi, Lugarara, 2024 from the Piemonte region in Italy. It was a fresh, citrusy wine, a good accompaniment to our meal.

For our main courses, we opted for freshly prepared pizzas from the pizza oven. Amelia chose The Devil Wears Prada. Tomato sauce with mozzarella. Parmesan, spicy salami, nduja, fresh chillies, and basil. It was a delicious pizza with great flavours.

Pizzas Mucci's

I plumped for prosciutto e funghi with a white pizza sauce. This is a popular menu item.  This pizza was topped with mozzarella, Parmesan, roasted ham, portobello mushrooms, and basil. It was a hearty pizza with a generous amount of meat, though it was very tasty, I couldn’t manage it all.

Although we had eaten well, we couldn’t resist a classic Italian dessert.

Panna cotta Mucci's

I chose a panna cotta with mixed berries. I’m fond of a good panna cotta, and this one was excellent. Soft creamy panna cotta with a great texture and the perfect wobble. Fresh strawberries were a light addition.

Amelia chose another light favourite Italian dessert, affogato, vanilla gelato served with an espresso shot.

Affogato Mucci's

We had an excellent meal at Mucci’s restaurant, the food portions were generous, the dishes were tasty, and the service was friendly and efficient. On a Tuesday evening, this restaurant had a good number of fellow diners who had discovered this gem of a restaurant in stylish Chelsea.
