Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical – Secret Cinema

Grease - the immersive movie musical

Oh, oh, these summer nights! There are certainly worse ways to spend a delightful summer’s evening than dressing up, getting a perm, and trekking on down to Battersea for an immersive retelling of the 1980s classic musical Grease. Seen before – in a different form – at a car park in Birmingham, this particular show is an immersive ‘light’ experience that is as fun and flamboyant as candy floss.

Jurassic World: The Experience at Battersea Power Station

July 6, 2025 (2025-07-06T10:58:49+01:00) by Lucy Foxell Leave a Comment

As we made our way through the sleek riverside development at Battersea Power Station, my three young companions – aged 8, 11 and 14, were quietly fizzing with anticipation. Jurassic World: The Experience had promised an immersive encounter with life-sized dinosaurs, and even the most sceptical among them couldn’t quite conceal their curiosity.

The Table, Battersea Rise – Omakase

The Table Battersea terrace

A mystery menu Once a month, The Table Battersea Rise runs an Omakase “Mystery Menu” Night. Omakase is a Japanese word meaning “I’ll leave it up to you” or, in a restaurant setting, “I’ll trust the chef”. However, the four-course mystery tasting menus at The Table are in no way confined to Japanese cuisine and […]

Kibou Battersea

Kibou interior

Turning Japanese at Kibou Battersea In the early 1980s, I brought back a box of sushi to London from Tokyo airport for my mum to try. If there were any Japanese restaurants in London at that time I was certainly unaware of them and there was nothing like that in my sleepy West London suburb. […]

The Mother of all pizzas comes to Battersea

Mother - the approach to Power

Via Copenhagen! Mother Restaurant. The original Mother pizza restaurant is based in the trendy meat-packing district of the Danish capital and has, over the past 10 years, obtained quite a bit of a cult following – particularly for their signature sourdough pizzas made with purified seawater.  Mother London opened their pizzeria on the banks of […]

Cinnamon Kitchen comes to Battersea

Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea - Tandoori chicken breast

Cinnamon Kitchen goes South of the River: I’m a huge fan of Vivek Singh, I love his restaurants, and I love his cookbooks which enable me to try to reproduce his creative and innovative dishes at home.  I also love Battersea, having lived there for 5 years in my late 20s/early 30s.   So when the […]

Nutbourne – a little bit of Sussex in Battersea

Nutbourne Battersea Langoustine with Lardo

A Taste of the Sussex Countryside – Nutbourne: I first came across the Gladwin brothers when The Shed opened in Notting Hill.  It was a breath of fresh air; excellent unpretentious food largely sourced from the family farm and vineyard and from local Sussex suppliers and with one Gladwin brother in the kitchen, the other […]

The Candlemaker, Battersea

shepherds pie - candlemaker

Comfort at The Candlemaker, Battersea’s English Food Kitchen: Last Friday marked the end of an era for me.  I bought a small flat in West Kensington about 15 years ago.  For five years it was my own home, for a further six it housed my mother.  It was a time when she was deemed too […]

Review of Boqueria – Queenstown Road, Battersea

Boqueria 2

A Taste of Spain on my (Old) Door Step Guest post by Sarah James: Fiona had kindly invited me to accompany her to Boqueria on Acre Lane, Brixton about a year ago, and I thought that the food was fantastic on that occasion, so when she asked if I’d like to review the new Battersea […]
