Progressive and Sustainable British Gastronomy in Worthing Situated on the South coast between Brighton and Chichester, Worthing has a reputation as being an old-fashioned, conservative and dare I say it, stuffy destination. But as with other South Coast towns, things are changing with a younger, artier crowd moving in, refugees from the soaring property prices […]

Rules Restaurant Interior

Traditional British Fare in a Traditional Setting at Rules Restaurant – London’s Oldest Dining Establishment If someone asks me where in London they can try the kind of food I grew up eating, then Rules restaurant comes top of the list. Brought up in the country, where my dad was the family doctor for a […]

Tavern bar

Ancient and Modern We are a sentimental bunch at London Unattached. When we heard that the team behind Restaurant St. Barts, our very first Restaurant of the Month in 2022, were opening a new British Bistro named Tavern in Old Street, it was a no-brainer as to what should be this month’s ROTM. We have […]

Teal Raspberry Jubilee

Little Chef Sally finds her home in Hackney, a charming little British Bistro There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing someone like Sally Abé come into her own in a setting like Teal that seems ‘just so’. We’ve known her work since she took over as head chef at The Harwood Arms. At the […]

Simpson's The Strand Exterior

Simpson’s – The Renaissance of a London Classic by Jeremy King It’s with great excitement that Simpson’s has reopened on the Strand. This renowned establishment has earned itself a place in British history. Opened in 1828 by Samuel Reiss as the Grand Cigar Divan, it was originally a coffee house and smoking room. London gentlemen […]

The Original Ivy – Classic Set Menu

The Ivy West Street - Bar - The Original Ivy

Old-School Glamour at an Affordable Price: The Ivy West Street Delivers If there’s one restaurant in London that is intrinsically linked with the West End and Theatreland, it’s The Ivy on West Street. Of course, it wasn’t always that way. The original Ivy opened in 1917, an unlicensed Italian cafe founded by Abel Giandolini. It […]

Bread and Wine at the Savoy Grill

Where to find the finest British Restaurants in London. Looking for the best British restaurants in London? As someone who writes regularly about London restaurants, I remain ambivalent about the sheer number of new openings introducing diners to an ever-expanding range of cuisines. Georgian food? London has it covered. Japanese? The capital now boasts Michelin-starred […]

The Sharing Roast at Pivot, Covent Garden

Pivot Restaurant Sharing Roast

Just in time for Burns Night celebrations, we check out Pivot restaurant’s sharing roast There are places in Covent Garden you wouldn’t necessarily notice. This particular part of London is full of the obvious, the visibly glamorous and the hyped must-visit. Yet there are still places where you can eat well, enjoy a great atmosphere, […]

Rabbit, Chelsea – Sunday Lunch

Rabbit Restaurant - Interior

Rabbit, one of the Gladwin Brothers’ Local and Wild group, is a quirky bistro on the King’s Road in Chelsea. It is the sort of place that could just as easily be picked up by its ears and set down in a market town such as Lewes, Marlborough or Bury St Edmunds, where it would be a haven for busy families and a welcome escape from cooking without losing the magic of a properly prepared roast.

The Shed - Scallops

Since opening in 2012, The Shed has established itself as a Notting Hill favourite. It’s part of the Gladwin brothers’ “Local & Wild” family – a trio of foodie siblings who also run a farm and vineyard in Sussex -whose aim is to transport diners from the polished streets of Notting Hill to the rustic warmth of the countryside.
