Luna Shaved ice

Experience transcendent dining made with care at Luna Omakase Tucked away inside a Mexican nightclub, be transported and worship at the altar of Japanese fine dining. Omakase can be a mixed bag. ‘Leave it up to the chef’ is not always the best idea, after all, the customer is always right in matters of taste. […]

The Azuki Room Tsukune and selection of skewers

Japanese Restaurant and Sake Bar in Holborn – The Azuki Room Each month, the team at London Unattached chooses a newly opened restaurant to feature as our Restaurant of the Month. We love the thrill of those first weeks when everything is shiny and promising. Oftentimes, the eatery becomes a stellar hit, and we have […]

Junsei chef grilling skewers

Junsei is the kind of relaxed place where you could happily meet up with friends or go on a date, in which case, book a table at the bar counter. You could pop in for a beer and a couple of skewers or even a cocktail; the list looked impressive. Or you could work your way through the menu, taking your time to savour the range of dishes. At Junsei, you kick back, relax and eat well.

Nobu Portman Square

With its blend of Japanese tradition and contemporary luxury, Nobu has established itself as one of the world’s most recognisable hospitality and lifestyle brands. Co-founded by chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro and producer Meir Teper, Nobu is celebrated for its pioneering fusion cuisine. The brand has since expanded into a global collection of restaurants and hotels, each renowned for minimalist elegance, exceptional service and a distinctive sense of style. We’ve tried a few of their restaurants over the years – from New York to Doha via London, Park Lane – so we were delighted to be invited along to the latest London outpost to review.

The Fuji Grill at Beaverbrook Town House

Invited to review the new menu at The Fuji Grill at Beaverbrook Town House, I was pleased to discover that we were dining on the eve of the restaurant’s fourth anniversary. The restaurant on a warm summer evening looked fresh and elegant.

Sushi Kyu Japanese in Soho

Sushi Kyu view of the restaurant from the street

One of my favourite options when overloaded with options is Japanese cuisine. I love the clean flavours, the top-quality fresh fish, the reverence for the food and attention to detail. Sushi Kyu offers all of this and its tiny proportions – 10 seats around a counter – plus an Omakase dinner, transported me to Tokyo.
