Sino – Restaurant of the Month

Sino potato with pike roe

Our Restaurant of the Month review highlights our selection of each month’s new openings. It always inspires excitement and debate at London Unattached Towers, and this month’s article is no exception.
It’s rare that there is a confluence of geopolitics and fine dining in our decision-making, but this month, that is just what happened. We were keen to support Sino, a new Ukrainian restaurant; food is an essential part of soft power, and the country needs all the support it can get. But it was chef Eugene Korolev’s CV that also won us over.

The Laslett Hotel – Terrace, Bar and Kitchen in the heart of Notting Hill

The Laslett, Notting Hill - Terrace

The Henderson Bar and Kitchen at the Laslett, Notting Hill There are parts of London where I struggle to find somewhere to relax with friends.  Where the food and wine are good but not outrageously priced and where the atmosphere is chilled and no one tries to hurry you along for a second sitting. Where […]

Caractère, Notting Hill

Cod - Caractere

A fifth birthday for a stylish and innovative fine dining restaurant in Notting Hill What happens when two talented and passionate chefs meet and fall in love?  In the case of Emily Roux (daugher of Michel) and Diago Ferrari (classically trained in France with Alain Ducasse and then Head Chef at Le Gavroche), they open […]

Laylow Restaurant Golborne Road

Laylow Restaurant, Notting Hill

South-American influenced food at the hip West London restaurant, Laylow My young musician son was quite impressed when I told him I was dining at Laylow this week, apparently, unbeknown to me he held his after-show party in the club here and frequently hangs out at this hip Notting Hill venue with his creative West […]

Los Mochis – Review

Los Mochis - Cucumber avocado California r

A Pan-Pacific Restaurant and Bar in Notting Hill Gate Los Mochis is a new pan-Pacific restaurant and bar in Notting Hill ‘mixing Mexican spirit with Japanese elegance, Mexican art and design with Japanese coolness and Mexican flavours with Japanese techniques’. I’m familiar with Nikkei cuisine, the Japanese-Peruvian culinary fusion that has become popularised in London […]

Beach Blanket Babylon Restaurant and Bar

Beach Blanket Babylon interior 1

Glamorous dining in Notting Hill Beach Blanket Babylon, W11’s fashionable bar and restaurant is set in the heart of Notting Hill in an elegant Georgian townhouse on Ledbury Road, right on the doorstep of Westbourne Grove’s chic shopping area. This stylish restaurant was established back in 1990, I had the pleasure of frequenting it many […]

Cha Cha x Sister Jane – Notting Hill

Bar - Chacha x Sister Jane

Go West to Golborne Road to check out Cha Cha x Sister Jane Perhaps the ultimate lifestyle dining concept is to put your restaurant in the heart of a unique fashion boutique.  The kind of place that out-of-towners might hear about from their City friends and aspire to visit. Cha Cha has done just that […]

Uli Notting Hill – Review

Uli Pan Asian Restaurant - aubergine

Pan-Asian Perfection in Notting Hill at Uli. Pan-Asian restaurant Uli has been a Notting Hill staple since 1997. Originally located on the edgy All Saints Road it has recently moved to the more genteel environs of Ladbroke Road just around the corner from the shopping mecca of Portobello Road as well as being handy for […]

Caractère – Notting Hill – Review

Caractere steamed turbot

Contemporary Fine Dining in Notting Hill at Caractère. A stone’s throw from The Ledbury, owners of Caractère, Emily Roux and Diego Ferrari say that they have aimed to create the kind of place where they’d like to eat themselves. Without a mouthful of food, I’m convinced that this comfortable warehouse-style restaurant, with jewel-coloured velvet chairs […]

A Walk on the Wild Side at UKAI Notting Hill

Scallops UKAI - Japanese Notting Hill

UKAI Japanese Gastropub in Notting Hill: Walking from Notting Hill Gate to the wrong end of the Portobello Road is something of a lesson in sociology.  While The Gate itself is a little scruffy, just a few minutes away, the swanky stucco fronted buildings of the area around Pembridge Crescent and Kensington Park Road are […]
