Mischief Unveils Cast of New Holiday Comedy “Christmas Carol Goes Wrong”

Christmas is coming and Mischief – the award-winning comedy company behind West End hits The Play That Goes Wrong and The Comedy About Spies – has revealed the full cast for its newest theatrical disasterpiece, Christmas Carol Goes Wrong. It’s a must-see, must-book Christmas treat to look forward to, even if everything does go horribly wrong.

The production opens at London’s Apollo Theatre on 6 December 2025 for a strictly limited seven-week run, following a short UK tour beginning in Salford this November.

The madcap festive comedy sees the famously inept Cornley Drama Society attempt to stage Dickens’ classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge – only for calamity, chaos, and comedic catastrophe to ensue. Fans of Mischief’s trademark blend of farce, physical comedy, and theatre-gone-wrong can expect missed cues, broken sets, onstage feuds and questionable casting choices. In short: business as usual for Cornley.

A Line-Up of Laughs – Meet the Cast

Bringing the holiday mayhem to life are Mischief regulars and audience favourites:

  • Matt Cavendish as Max
  • Daniel Fraser as Chris
  • Sasha Frost as Sandra
  • Chris Leask as Trevor
  • Henry Lewis as Robert
  • Jonathan Sayer as Dennis
  • Greg Tannahill as Jonathan

Nancy Zamit and Dumile Sibanda will alternate in the role of Annie, with understudies Alex Bird, Will Bishop, Siobhan Cha Cha, Colm Gleeson and Ashley Tucker ready to step in should disaster – inevitably – strike.

The show is written by Mischief’s founding trio, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, and directed by Matt DiCarlo, whose recent directorial debut with The Comedy About Spies earned critical praise. Founded by LAMDA graduates in 2008, Mischief has grown from a fringe improv troupe into a global comedy powerhouse. The Play That Goes Wrong continues its record-breaking 11-year run in the West End, with international productions and a Broadway hit. Their expanding repertoire includes Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Magic Goes Wrong, and most recently, The Comedy About Spies, currently delighting audiences at the Noël Coward Theatre (click the link to read the London-Unattached review)

Beyond the stage, Mischief has entertained millions through TV hits including Peter Pan Goes Wrong, A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, and The Goes Wrong Show on BBC One.

Tickets Selling Fast – And So Are the Carols

Since tickets went on sale in March, over 50% have already been snapped up for the West End run, with the Apollo Theatre confirming a delightful festive roll call among the bookers: 92 Carols, 14 (tiny) Tims, 10 Hollies, and one Noel. Producers remain hopeful that a Fezziwig will soon be added to the guest list.

The show’s Gala Performance will take place on Sunday, 14 December at 5 pm.

A Tour That’s Going (Terribly) Wrong

Before settling in the West End, Christmas Carol Goes Wrong kicks off its UK tour at The Lowry in Salford on 2 November. It will then visit Cheltenham, Cardiff, and Bath before arriving in London. After the West End run concludes on 25 January 2026, the tour resumes, heading to Nottingham, Aylesbury, Edinburgh, Glasgow and finally closing at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre on 1 March 2026. So wherever you live in the UK, you have a chance to catch it.
