Mess-Free Mixology from the Cocktail Society

Ever wanted to serve bar-quality cocktails at home without the fuss?  My own cocktail-making goes in fits and starts – sometimes I’m happy enough to line up a range of ingredients to shake and stir into submission.  But generally, if I have guests I want to spend my time entertaining them.  Now, while some of my closer acquaintances might claim that watching me concoct a cocktail is entertainment in its own right, I’d like to hope that most of them prefer my conversation to my cocktail-making.  Sadly, I am clearly not a pro because I just can’t do both!

Cocktail Society Margaritas

That’s where the Cocktail Society comes into its own.  Their bottled cocktails are the perfect solution for someone like me – excellent quality pre-mixed drinks that can be served in a trice – and if you happen to want to hide the bottles and pass them off as your own, my guess is no one will be any the wiser.

Tommys Margarita

The latest bottle cocktail on offer is a Spiced Tommy’s Margarita – which comes in two sizes.  There’s a 500 ml bottle that will look elegant on your bar, or a one-litre cocktail pouch for your summer parties.  It’s based on the Cocktail Society Tommy’s Margarita, a classic blend of Resposado Tequila, Citrus and Agave Syrup, but has the addition of Longhorn Red Chilli and Birdseye Green Chilli.  I love a good margarita and this full-strength mix from The Cocktail Society was spot on, with a good kick from the high-quality tequila and a delicious citrus tang to complement the chilli. For the perfect serve all you need to do is fill a rocks glass to about a third with some ice, then pour over your cocktail.  Each 500 ml bottle makes five to seven servings.  You can pimp up your own version with a garnish of lime or a flavoured rim. I had a go at making a chilli and salt rim, which was definitely great for taste, but not the prettiest version I’ve seen.

We also tried the passionfruit martini (otherwise known as a Pornstar Martini). With a James Bond bent, I served the martini shaken not stirred and everyone agreed it really was a professional-quality cocktail.  We loved the smooth, subtle and slightly sweet martini – it’s the sort of thing I’d love to make from scratch but seldom have the right ingredients on hand. A blend of vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, passionfruit juice and vanilla syrup blended to perfection all you need to do is fill your cocktail shaker and chill the drink before straining into a martini glass.

The Cocktail Society has a whole range of ready-mixed cocktails on offer and I can’t wait to try a few more.  Full strength and not over-sweetened, they are grown-up drinks that mean you can have a choice of your favourite cocktails on the shelf at home, ready for any occasion.  There’s a Daiquiri -coconut and kaffir lime blended with Plantation Rum, a Smoked Old Fashioned, a couple of Negroni cocktails, Martinis and Margaritas.  They also have a subscription service – so you can taste your way through the range and more on a month-by-month basis.  There’s also a whole range of cocktail kits.  Everything you need to enjoy a good cocktail at home, whether you fancy making your own from scratch or just offering your guests the perfect (easy) serve with the bottle cocktail range.

Now, just in case you are looking for an excuse, it’s National Tequila Day on the 24th of July.  So, make sure you have a bottle of Spiced Tommy’s Margarita to hand.

ABV: 19%. RPP: £26.00 for 500 ml
