Christmas Lunch and More at L’Escargot:

Since my first visit to L’Escargot some months ago, my business partner has become a member of the club upstairs.  So, we hold regular meetings there and I’ve been fortunate enough to eat in the restaurant a couple of times.

For those curious about the food and level of service on an ongoing basis, I thought it worth posting a quick update.

The club costs around £450 for a year’s membership.  That gives you a series of networking and social events, access to meeting rooms and rooms that can be booked for private events.  I’ve noticed that there are monthly members get togethers, and I know a few people in the media world who have already taken advantage of the very reasonable membership fee.  It’s a quirky place where the staff know you by first name and where you find your own favourite space to sit.

Of course, inevitably we end up eating there too, it’s just far too easy – and the staff will bring lunch up to the club rooms too!

The Christmas special menu was really delicious.  There were various options, we ended up trying the turkey and the goose.  Portions were ample – and included some of the tastiest pigs in blankets I’ve had this year.

I’m still considering whether, as someone who lives relatively centrally in London, it’s worth paying for membership.  I just might have to, simply so that I can join the club.
