Wayne McGregor’s meditative new work, ‘Deepstaria’ at Sadler’s Wells, was inspired by the other-worldly deepstaria jellyfish and the liminal space of the ocean depths, together with the loneliness of a space station or the vastness of space itself.
Crystal Pite’s Light of Passage at the Royal Ballet
Light of Passage is a short piece, Flight Pattern is only 30 minutes long with Covenant and Passage being 10 and 20 minutes long respectively. As a whole, however, it delivers a considerable emotional punch. Jay Gower Taylor’s set, Tom Visser’s lighting, Gorecki’s music, and of course the brilliant dancers of the Royal Ballet, create the haunting atmosphere of this profoundly moving work. This is not to be missed. – get a ticket if you can.

Ruination – Linbury Theatre
This is a second run for Ruination at the Linbury, a production by Lost Dog in collaboration with The Royal Ballet. As an alternative festive show, I can think of no better entertainment, despite the underlying tragedy. This is, as Ben Duke eloquently puts it, about death.
